UPDATE

Updated my “About” section!

My name is Becci J Atkinson and I am an Illustrator/Artist based in Norwich. I love playing video games and watching murder mystery TV programs.

Becci Atkinson is influenced by people on the periphery of society and objects of little worth.Having spent her youth engrossed in horror films and video games, the influence seeps through to her work, creating an untainted drawing style, full of natural release, and sometimes a little dirt and gore. She mingles this with her feminine touches and creates some truly interesting unique pieces. She works in a range of media, preferring to scavenge alternative paper surfaces from bins and pockets, thinking of herself as a Fagin character to orphaned paper. She suffers from a television addiction that borders on harmful. If you could name a program she hasn’t watched, it probably wasn’t worth watching. this influence permeates her subject matter, creating engrossing cinematic narratives.

Contact me at beccijatkinson@hotmail.co.uk for any information or commissions.

I also love weird things so if you have any weird items or share my passion for it email me.

Peace out.

Today I had to find a picture of a British Soldier to draw for my #illustration work. I found an image of #jamesashworth who I knew nothing about other than he had the look I desired for my imagery. I have just read in the news that he has been posthumously awarded the #victoriacross. L/Cpl Ashworth, from Corby, Northamptonshire, was killed as he stormed an insurgent position in the Nahr-e-Saraj district of Helmand in June 2012.

The citation read: “Despite the ferocity of the insurgent’s resistance, Ashworth refused to be beaten.

“His total disregard for his own safety in ensuring that the last grenade was posted accurately was the gallant last action of a soldier who had willingly placed himself in the line of fire on numerous occasions earlier in the attack.

“This supremely courageous and inspiring action deserves the highest recognition.” It’s easy to look at a photograph and not think about the person that may be in it.
